SAVING IN GOLD

For centuries gold has been used as the ultimate symbol of wealth and store of value.   Over the centuries, the armies of mighty and embolden leaders of great nations have traveled vast distances across the earth in search of gold.

WHAT MAKES GOLD SO VALUABLE?

Some of the qualities that make gold a perfect store of wealth are it’s:

  • RARITY

  • BEAUTY

  • UTILITY

God is rare. Earth’s gold has cosmic origins. Scientists now believe that billions of years ago earth was showered in gold as it passed through the spectacular mega explosion of 2 colliding stars. This is believed to have been a rare occurrence, which has not happened again in billions of years. That makes the available amount of gold on the planet extremely limited and rare and thus highly valued and sought after.

Gold cannot be printed; it’s rarity guarantees it’s intrinsic value throughout time, and civilizations from time immemorial have taken great pride in their ownership of physical gold.

Gold is beautiful! The stunning and delicious warmth of gold’s deep and slightly reddish yellow color is second to none making it the perfect symbol of majesty, royalty, and power for the ruling elite including kings and queens over the centuries.

The chemical name on the periodic table for gold is AURUM or AU.

The word Aurum is derived from the Latin word aurora or dawn – for dawn of the sun. Gold has much spiritual significance in global cultures, and many temples and churches have used gold in their decorations and religious ceremonies associating gold with divine qualities and virtues for example, the golden halos around Christ, Mary, and saints in the Christian tradition, and the gold leaf used on the surface of the Sikh Golden Temple in Amritsar, India.

Gold plays an important part in industry. Gold has a very important role in many medical and complimentary healing traditions including homeopathy, and both Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine.   Gold is often used as an important healing agent in therapeutic formulas in these traditions. In homeopathy, the remedy Arum is often used in the treatment of trauma, suicide, and depression. In western medicine gold is also used for many medical purposes including restorative dentistry while gold salts are used as anti-inflammatories.

GOLD IS EASY TO OWN

Gold is legal and easy to own gold at this time in the United States, but it wasn’t always that way. In the past it was illegal to own gold in the United States as well as in other nations like China.  Today in the United States you can own gold bars and coins.  Coins in gold can be purchased in many sizes and weights for example:

1/10 oz

¼ oz

½ oz

1 oz

Many people love owning tubes of “gold nickels”.  Similar in size to a roll of nickels form a bank, a tube of the $5 U.S. gold liberty ¼ oz. coins is a wonderful gold asset to own because the gold “nickels” are: fractional, rare, beautiful, and easy to store.

Then of course, you have the large and magnificent 1 oz. gold coins.  I call these juicy gold because they are lush, solid, and delicious looking!  And there are many beautiful variations available in 22k and 24k.

Some of the most beautiful large gold coins are the Austrian Philharmonic, the American Gold Buffalo, the American Gold Eagle, the British Britannia and the Royal Canadian Mint’s Gold maple leaf.

Also of striking beauty are the United States pre 1933 St. Gaudens and Liberty $20 dollar gold coins. These historic American gold coins are absolutely stunning and have a unique place in U.S. history. And although they are no longer minted, they are still available on the market today.

There are also other fractional American gold coins available such as the beautiful $10 dollar gold Indian and Liberty coins which are also available in tubes as well as gold Indian and gold liberty coins available in ¼ oz. and 1/10 oz.

As with all good ideas and intentions, one of the most important things to remember about investing in gold is:  DON’T WAIT, START NOW!
